This is an opportunity for residents of Tathra and others to explore how the landscape has responded a year after the fires of 2018. The walk will be led by botanist Jackie Miles, with Andrew Morrison from Bega Valley Shire Council, Dan Morgan from Local Land Services and special guest Oliver Costello, Director of the Firesticks Alliance Indigenous Corporation. We will visit two different ecological communities that were affected by fire – the coastal headland and the eucalypt forest behind Tathra. Participants will see the significant regeneration of local native species and have a chance to discuss weed control, revegetation and cultural burning that has been undertaken in the local area.
When: Friday 18 October 2019, 9am -12.30pm
Where: Coastal track on Tathra Headland and Eucalypt forest off Thompsons Drive
Cost: The walk is free and morning tea is provided.
