Far South Coast Landcare Association (FSCLA)
Location: Bega, NSW
Position Type: Casual (~15 hours per week)
Contract Duration: 4 months, with potential for extension
Application Deadline: 5:00 pm, Friday 8 August 2025
Start Date: As soon as possible

Background:
We’re seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and motivated individual to join our team as a part-time Coastal Weeds Project Assistant. This role offers the unique opportunity to work along the stunning beaches of the South Coast, with a focus on identifying and removing invasive coastal weed species. The work involves extensive walking and requires keen observation skills.
We are able to provide the successful candidate with training in weed and native plant identification, and hope the role will also allow them to build skills in GIS mapping, networking, weed control and environmental data collection.
It would be fair to say that working for the Coastal Weeds Project is a unique opportunity to walk some of the best beaches our coast has to offer, but it is also important to emphasise that the role can be physically demanding, particularly when dealing with weed outbreaks that require manual removal, bagging, and transporting materials back to the vehicle. For this reason, a strong work ethic, fitness, and the ability to work well in a team are essential.
