Supplementary feeding of livestock in dry times

Lunch provided on arrival.

This half-day session will provide local beef and sheep farmers with information and
tips for managing livestock during periods of below average rainfall and slow pasture
growth.

The workshop will focus on:

  • Understanding nutritional requirements of your class of livestock
  • Estimating and understanding what feed you have in the paddock
  • Supplementary feeding options: quality, quantity, cost, timing, logistics, equipment
  • Animal health considerations in dry times and in introducing supplementary feeding
  • Support available
