@Jigamy Farm, Eden, Sunday 20th March 12:30 – 4pm
Join ABC Gardening Australia’s Costa Georgiadis and Twofold Aboriginal Corporation for the hands-on
initiation of a bold new gardens and food forest project.
Commencing with a sausage-sizzle with Costa at 12:30, you will be introduced to Jigamy’s broader
landscape plan by a number of Indigenous consultants.
Participants will then be guided by project manager, Dan Bakker, through seven unique cultural and
ecological garden zones being created to celebrate both people and Indigenous native foods whilst also
modelling Permaculture design principles designed to encounter the impending impacts of climate
These diverse garden zones will include an integrated orchard and chicken coop; an Indigenous forest
arboretum; a bird/bee/butterfly verge; a quarter-acre market garden; and will feature a temperate
syntropic food-forest the likes of which has not yet been attempted in the area.
At 2pm the group will then join seasoned nurseryman, Don Firth, and Costa to prepare a native seed-
raising mix from scratch before propagating up to 8 varieties of Indigenous seed that will be planted out along an intersecting cultural narrative path early in 2023.
Entry free. No booking required. Kids encouraged.
